How it works

How Clear House works

Published by Clear House · Updated

Short answer

Clear House is a home improvement planning app and marketplace. You plan a project and see a ballpark price on Clear House. Where a reviewed independent pro covers your ZIP code and trade, you can send the project to that one pro and review their quote in the app.

Clear House does not perform the work. The pro you choose does the job under your agreement with them.

The steps

  • Choose a project, such as roofing, windows, flooring or painting.
  • Answer a few short questions and add a photo if you have one.
  • See a planning ballpark. For some projects, preview your choices on your own photo.
  • Clear House checks whether a reviewed pro covers your ZIP code for that trade.
  • If one does, send your project to that one pro. If not, join the waitlist and get an email when a pro is available.
  • The pro reviews your project and sends a quote in the app. You decide whether to accept.

What Clear House does not do

  • It does not perform, supervise or guarantee the work.
  • It does not guarantee that an estimate matches the final price.
  • It does not sell your request to several contractors.
  • It does not promise a pro is available in every area.
